Bring a Buddy to Class 02nd February 2026 – 07th February 2026
Starting something new is rarely about ability. It’s usually about confidence. Walking into a new space, meeting new people, wondering if you’ll fit in. That’s exactly why we’re running Bring a Buddy to Shi Kon week.
For one week only, you can bring a friend, family member, training partner, sibling, parent, colleague or someone who’s been saying “I should really do something for myself” for the last five years. They train with you, in your class, completely free for this week.
No pressure. No sales pitch. Just movement, connection and a shared experience.
There’s something powerful about learning alongside someone you already trust. A familiar face lowers nerves, keeps motivation high and makes turning up easier. Training together builds confidence, accountability and often a lot of laughter too. It also helps people move their bodies in ways they didn’t realise they needed, which has knock on effects for stress levels, focus, energy and sleep.
Here’s how that looks across our classes.
Kids Kung Fu
Children thrive when they feel safe. Bringing a buddy could be a sibling, cousin or close friend, someone who helps them walk into class with shoulders a little higher. Training together builds social confidence, teamwork and communication skills. Kids move more freely when they feel supported, which improves coordination, focus and emotional regulation. Physical activity also helps children settle at night, so better sleep often follows without anyone having to fight bedtime battles.
Adult Kung Fu
Adults tend to overthink starting martial arts. Having someone next to you removes that barrier. Training with a friend builds consistency and commitment, especially on days when motivation dips. Kung Fu challenges both mind and body, improving strength, balance and mental resilience. Shared training sharpens focus, reduces stress and offers a healthy outlet after long workdays. Many adults notice improved sleep simply because their nervous system finally gets a chance to switch off.
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is subtle, thoughtful and deeply grounding. Bringing a buddy makes the experience richer, especially for those who think they need to be flexible, calm or experienced before starting. Practising together encourages patience, presence and a shared sense of calm. Tai Chi supports joint health, posture and breath control while gently quietening mental noise. Training with someone familiar often helps people relax faster and carry that calm home with them.
Ladies Only Kickboxing
This class is about empowerment, confidence and release. Bringing a friend removes the intimidation factor and adds a layer of fun. Training together builds trust and pushes you both to work harder without it feeling heavy. Kickboxing boosts mood, improves cardiovascular health and helps burn off stress that’s been sitting in the body all day. Many women report sleeping deeper and feeling mentally lighter after regular sessions, especially when training becomes a shared routine.
Pilates
Pilates is controlled, precise and incredibly effective. Bringing a buddy encourages consistency and keeps people accountable. Shared practice helps participants stay focused on posture, strength and breath. Pilates supports core stability, injury prevention and body awareness, all of which translate into better movement outside the studio. Training regularly often leads to reduced tension and improved sleep quality.
Yin Yoga
Yin invites stillness.. Bringing someone you trust makes it great to settle in. Practising together encourages people to stay present rather than rushing through sensations. Yin supports joint health, fascia release and nervous system regulation. It’s particularly helpful for stress relief and deep rest. Many students leave feeling calmer, clearer and noticeably more rested.
This week is about connection. About reminding people that movement doesn’t have to be intimidating and that growth is easier when it’s shared. If someone in your life has been curious, hesitant or simply needed a nudge, this is it.
From 02nd February 2026 to 07th February 2026, your buddy trains free, in your class, alongside you.
Sometimes all it takes is a familiar face to start something that changes everything.
